    Palmetto

I have been experimenting with digital painting lately. I am surprised at how enjoyable and relaxing it is. While earning my fine arts degree at the University of South Florida, I stayed away from painting like the plague. It’s quite funny that I’m warming to it after all these years. I guess the process with a Wacom tablet and my Mac is much less intimidating.

One of the ways I remain sharp as an artist is to do personal projects and to create art outside of the areas I work in on a regular basis. When I first started learning to be a photographer in high school I discovered that I really loved being outside in nature, walking, exploring and finding beauty. I have found it relaxing and energizing ever since.

Recently I spent the morning exploring an area of beach on Longboat Key. An hour or two of walking, listening and creating is very good for the soul.
